This book is the first in a series of three volumes that comprise Mina Totino’s I Look Up. Here Totino’s ongoing project of Polaroid cloud photographs is presented as a conceptual artist book. Totino has long been drawn to clouds as subject matter for their whimsical, sublime, and mundane character and for their rich associations from cloud watching as an idle pursuit to transcendent depictions by Kaspar David Friedrich and John Constable. The photographs are presented chronologically, with each Polaroid documenting the artist’s gaze and representing time and place via the sky.
