Bound copies of the DTES Area Plan now available, pay-what-you-can

Downtown Eastside Local Area PlanReading a 320-page PDF online can be awkward, especially if you want to make notes in the margins! The draft Local Area Plan for the Downtown Eastside — which encompasses Chinatown, where Publication Studio Vancouver is — goes to Vancouver City Council next Wednesday (March 12).

We can print and bind copies (like the one in the picture), and are offering them for sale on a pay-what-you-can basis. The suggested price is $10 (cheap!), but what you pay is up to you.

This document is meant to set city policies for a large and diverse neighbourhood. If you live here, or work here, or care about the place, you should read it, and respond to it by writing to mayorandcouncil@vancouver.ca, or asking to address council.

We’re at 222 East Georgia Street, just east of Main, and we’re usually open noon to 5pm every day except Sunday.

The online version is at http://vancouver.ca/home-property-development/dtes-local-area-plan.aspx. Download the 12MB PDF file, which contains 320 pages of motions, reports, and other appendices, to make sure you’re getting the full picture.
