Please join us at Publication Studio Vancouver for the launch of Oral like Cloaks, Dialect a selection of writing by poet and artist Tiziana La Melia. This collection of her texts includes poetry, scripts, reproductions of short-run publications, and writing for exhibitions and artists, as well as an array of collaborative writing conducted over the past decade. In referencing Hollywood cinema, literature, costume history, insect anatomy, La Melia’s texts exercise dialects, changing outfits and modes of inquiry. In the way clothing inflects language in the pursuit of style or a role, ways of elaborating oral and text based codes is as much a way to inhabit identities as a form of inquiry. The texts in Oral Like Cloaks, Dialect articulate the texture of speaking, reading and writing as vibrations, feelings and pulses translated into English.
