Rock and Roll Meeting:
Selected Print Works from the ASL Archive
February 28 to April 18, 2015
Opening reception February 27 at 8pm
Publication Studio Vancouver
Publication Studio is pleased to present ‘Rock And Roll Meeting’, an exhibition of selected print works from the archive of ASL. These works are drawn from ASL’s vast collection of posters, zines, books and reports that were originally created to document the organization’s research into diverse topics such as psycho eyes, leather and chests, creeps, nudity rituals, slogans, warnings, fangs and goons. Most of the material, produced between 2007 and 2015, was printed in limited edition runs and distributed through ASL’s underground network. This exhibition marks the first time these works have been shown as a collection.
ASL is a research organization founded in 2007 by artists Kevin Romaniuk and Liam Hogan. ASL aims to produce, archive, and curate visual information to further their research into outsider subcultures, occult rituals, rock and roll lineages and stoner mysticism.
ASL is critically acclaimed, with mentions by several leading publications and websites including Harper’s Bazaar, Vice Magazine, Show Class Magazine and 01 Magazine. GQ France named ASL’s blog as one of the internet’s “20 most influential blogs” Their work has been exhibited, published and distributed in over ten countries, with recent gallery exhibitions in Paris, Berlin, Brussels, and Toronto. Romaniuk and Hogan have a loyal following of artists, metal heads, wastoids, fashionistas and bikers all of which find common ground in ASL.
‘Rock and Roll Meeting’, their new book published by Publication Studio Vancouver, will be available at the opening, and is also available for order online.
